Day 16

Lake Bled & Salzburg

sunny 20 °C
View Europe with a bit of Asian twist on Szufan's travel map.

After a enjoyable night in Ljubljana, today we were heading towards Lake Bled to spend our morning there. Slovenia really gave me a nice surprise of its beauty and tidiness. In the middle of Lake Bled there was a small island with a church. People were welcome to hire a boat to the island but it was such a cool morning that no one in our group gave it a go. We did however all sat down by the lake and enjoy a very yummy and special only in Lake Bled - “Cream cake”. As Phil started the cake while I waited for his coffee, unfortunately I didn’t get a nice picture of the cake. The photo attached was found online but it looked just like it.
We left for Austria around noon and it didn’t take very long before we started seeing the beautiful alpine scenery.
A short time was given for us to settle into our hotel room then we were dropped off in central Salzburg for a quick walking tour. To be completely honest I didn’t pay a lot of attention to each attraction so I couldn’t really write much about them so I would just stick some pictures on to show you. I then used a small gap prior dinner to buy myself some famous Salzburg chocolate as souvenir... ?

Our dinner restaurant was actually one of the oldest restaurants in Central Europe (or so they claimed) and it was quite fancy. The meal was nice I forgot to take picture of the main but both the entree and dessert were quite special. It was a rare early night for the group as we all headed back for our hotel. (Usually some people from the group would still stay out late drinking)
It had been a quick stop in Austria too but I would be interested in coming back in future to spend more time in Slovenia and Austria.
